Stanmore Bay Pools and Leisure Centre

Just across the road from the beautiful beach at Stanmore Bay, our award-winning Pool and Leisure Centre offers a great range of activities for people of every level, from the young of age to the young at heart. Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre has pools, a modern gym, four badminton courts, two basketball courts, a swim shop, an onsite café, our own Kauri Kids early childhood education centre and plenty of parking.

As well as swimming and working out in the gym, you can attend any of the more than 80 group fitness classes — including Les Mills™ classes — we run each week. We have two group fitness studios and a cycle studio.

We love our community and are proud that our centre's two stadiums host:

  • preschool gymnastics
  • school holiday programmes
  • school-age and adult sports leagues
  • specialised programmes for seniors
  • drop-in sports sessions.

Surf Life Saving & Squash Club

Red Beach

Our volunteer lifeguards patrol the beach on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from Labour weekend (October) until Easter, each summer.  Red Beach lifeguards also patrol at Pakiri Beach, usually from mid-December to mid-February. Also on the East coast, Pakiri is a one hour drive north of Red Beach.

If you are visiting either beach, please remember to swim between the Red and Yellow patrol flags.

In addition we run a very successful Junior programme for 4 – 13 year olds which commences in late-October. Our coaches teach the youngsters important surf skills as well as creating a wonderful social and fun environment for lasting friendships.
